Maryna Pohlman
Trumpet Instructor
Maryna Pohlman is a freelance trumpet player currently based out of Bloomington, IN. Her recent notable accomplishments include touring for three months as Principal Trumpet with the Netflix and BBC Original series “Our Planet” Live in Concert USA Tour, as well as recording on the Funk Recording Studio soundtrack for the SGame video game, Honor of Kings. Maryna has also toured as a founding member of the trumpet ensemble, Bel Tono, on their month-long international tour at the 27 Festival de Música: BAC Credomatic in Costa Rica. She is also a founding member of the new all-female trumpet ensemble The Calla Project, which will be making their debut at the 2024 Utah Trumpet Guild Conference, in Salt Lake City, UT.
Maryna is currently pursuing her Doctor of Music in Trumpet Performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, study under the tutelage of Dr. Jason Bergman. Previously, she received her master’s degree from the University of Utah studying under the direction of Dr. Peyden Shelton and Travis Peterson, where she performed with the University of Utah Graduate Brass Quintet, Trumpet Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and was a featured soloist with the University of Utah Philharmonia. During her time as a freelance trumpet player in Salt Lake City, Maryna was a featured soloist with the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra and the Salt Lake Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, as well as performed with the Millennial Choir and Orchestra, Salt Lake Choral Artists, and was principal trumpet of the Westminster Chamber Orchestra. Maryna previously received her bachelor’s degree in Trumpet Performance from Fort Lewis College, studying with Dr. Marc Reed. During her time at Fort Lewis College, she performed with Maria Schneider, Sean Jones, John Scofield, and Delfeayo Marsalis, the San Juan Symphony, and was a featured soloist with the Fort Lewis College Wind Ensemble.
In addition to performing, Maryna is a very active member of the International Trumpet Guild. She currently holds the positions of New Editor, Social Media Coordinator, and Exhibit Coordinator for the International Trumpet Guild.
